Dr Jackie Yung

Specialist Anaesthetist BPharm, MBBS (Hons), FANZCA

Dr Jackie Yung is a Specialist Anaesthetist who aims to provide a warm and compassionate experience for patients undergoing surgery. Her clinical areas of interest include anaesthesia for general surgery, upper gastrointestinal (GI) surgery, breast and endocrine surgery, trauma, and oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Dr Yung began her medical career with a Bachelor of Pharmacy from The University of Queensland (UQ). She then completed her Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery with first class honours in 2006, also at UQ. She began anaesthetic training after developing an interest in acute and critical care medicine during her third post-graduate year, working as a Principal House Officer in an Intensive Care Unit.

Dr Yung’s anaesthetic training was all completed in South-East Queensland, including Ipswich, Logan, and Gold Coast public hospitals, as well as Princess Alexandra (PA), (the previously known) Mater Children’s and Mater Mother’s hospitals in Brisbane. She completed her training with a Fellowship in general and upper GI surgery at PA in 2015.

Currently, Dr Yung works in private hospitals across Brisbane, as well as being a staff specialist anaesthetist at PA Hospital. She enjoys the challenges of the public tertiary hospital system where she can be involved in the teaching, mentoring and supervision of the next generation of anaesthetists.

Dr Yung is passionate about quality care and improvement, and enjoys working collaboratively with surgeons for a positive, patient-focused experience.
